our vision

Just brane: we know why we are here

As you arrive at Brane-Cantenac, there is no doubt of our purpose. The low backdrop of buildings, traditional but functional, are barely visible behind the vines growing atop Brane's prized gravel-covered plateau. The modest chateau at the centre is a family home.

Brane's vision, driven by Henri Lurton, is to act with conviction and without compromise. Nothing is for show; nothing is a distraction. Everything serves a single objective: to make the greatest wine possible from what we consider to be one of Bordeaux's finest terroirs.

winemaking

Mastering every detail

Every step of the winemaking process presents both a challenge and an opportunity. At Brane, we do not seek efficiency or simplicity, but instead to be ever more precise, more certain and, above all, more in tune with our terroir – no matter what it takes.

the wines

With each soil, an expression

Extensive analysis of our soils has enabled us to divide the vineyard into different 'zones' that correspond to different distinct soil profiles called 'terraces', formed at different periods in time. Even subtle nuances in Brane's terroir, when guided with an approach fully tailored to each origin, result in wines that reveal remarkably different characteristics.

Each of Brane-Cantenac's wines represents a different plot selection of the estate with a specific soil type, vinified with a different approach, and thus expressing a distinct personality. Château Brane-Cantenac originates from the plateau on Terrace 4, giving richer, denser fruit with more structured tannins and therefore more suitable for ageing in bottle. Baron de Brane originates from predominantly Terrace 5, which offers elegant, charming, but lighter fruit, and Terrace 3 which gives structure. These qualities allow this wine to be enjoyed younger.
